Open space meetings have been around for about 20 years, but they are still considered unconventional in most organizational cultures. Yet open space can create “inspired organizations” that nurture planning and action, learning and doing, passion and responsibility, and participation and performance.
In the most common form of Open Space meeting, every issue of any importance, to any person willing to take some responsibility for it, gets posted on a board, sometimes called the Marketplace wall. As the meeting progresses, a strategy is revealed.
