Program Timelines

Summer Cohort

Internship start / end dates: May 21, 2024 - November 22, 2024.

NOTE: The end date is flexible to accommodate various weekly schedules, however, the total amount of hours stay at 460.

  • February 5, 2024: Deadline to submit applications for both employers & students is 9:00 AM (PST);
  • January 22 - February 16, 2024: Students will be vetted on an ongoing basis and will receive advice, feedback, and support from our Student Success Coaches;
  • February 21 - February 23, 2024: Eligible students will be connected to available internship opportunities and prepare for interviews;
  • February 26 - March 8, 2024: Industry Partners/ Employers will call shortlisted students and conduct interviews;
  • March 11, 2024: Industry Partner/ Employer deadline to submit the names of the successful candidates; Industry Partners/ Employers will email melvilleindustry@kpu.ca and copy the successful student; upon acceptance, both the intern and the industry partner will sign an agreement;
  • March 25, 2024: KPU Melville to submit the funding proposals;
  • May 21, 2024: MBSI program anticipated start date.

Fall Cohort 

Internship start / end dates: September 16, 2024 - March 14, 2025.

NOTE: The end date is flexible to accommodate various weekly schedules, however, the total amount of hours stay at 460.

  • May 23, 2024: Deadline to submit applications for both employers & students is 9:00 AM (PST);
  • May 6 - May 27, 2024: Students will be vetted on an ongoing basis and will receive advice, feedback, and support from our Student Success Coaches;
  • May 29 - June 13, 2024: Eligible students will be connected to available internship opportunities and prepare for interviews;
  • June 17 - July 3, 2024: Industry Partners/ Employers will call shortlisted students and conduct interviews;
  • July 11, 2024: Industry Partner/ Employer deadline to submit the names of the successful candidates; Industry Partners/ Employers will email melvilleindustry@kpu.ca and copy the successful student; upon acceptance, both the intern and the industry partner will sign an agreement;
  • July 22, 2024: KPU Melville to submit the funding proposals;
  • September 16, 2024: MBSI program anticipated start date.

Spring Cohort 

Internship start / end dates: January 20, 2025 - July 18, 2025.

NOTE: The end date is flexible to accommodate various weekly schedules, however, the total amount of hours stay at 460.

  • October 3, 2024: Deadline to submit applications for both employers & students is 9:00 AM (PST);
  • September 9 - October 9, 2024: Students will be vetted on an ongoing basis and will receive advice, feedback, and support from our Student Success Coaches;
  • October 10 - 17, 2024: Eligible students will be connected to available internship opportunities and prepare for interviews;
  • October 18 - November 8, 2024: Industry Partners/ Employers will call shortlisted students and conduct interviews;
  • November 12, 2024: Industry Partner/ Employer deadline to submit the names of the successful candidates; Industry Partners/ Employers will email melvilleindustry@kpu.ca and copy the successful student; upon acceptance, both the intern and the industry partner will sign an agreement;
  • November 18, 2024: KPU Melville to submit the funding proposals;
  • January 20, 2025: MBSI program anticipated start date.

Eligibility

  • Domestic and International Melville School of Business students, eligible to work part-time in Canada, who are still enrolled at KPU on the end date of the internship;
  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree, Post-Baccalaureate Diploma, or Graduate Diploma at Melville School of Business;
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (exceptions can be made by a SSC who has met with the student and has evaluated the student’s skills and knowledge);
  • Not be actively enrolled or participating in a Coop Program;
  • Be available to reside in Canada for the entire duration of the internship (for ex., Spring 2023: January 2023 till mid-July 2023); and
  • Reside in Canada at the time of application (local address and phone number are required).

Internship Structure

  • Flexible time (20 - 35 hours per week); maximum 6 months and minimum 4 months, up to 460 hours;
  • Beginning in May, September, and January;
  • Flexible time-frames; choose the days and hours that work best for you;

Note: Employers have the flexibility to hire multiple interns per term. This may involve collaborative work on larger projects or individual assignments in different departments. However, it is essential that each intern's specific outcomes and deliverables are clearly outlined in the project description.
