KPU awards $21,000 in entrance scholarships to Richmond students

(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) In recognition of outstanding academic standing and leadership, KPU awarded the following two Richmond high school students with entrance scholarships: Sarah Fairweather from McMath Secondary received the President’s Award valued at $14,000; and Aden Dur-E-Aden from R.C. Palmer Secondary received the Honour Award valued at $7,000.

“I was shocked and overwhelmed to receive this scholarship,” said Fairweather, who is looking forward to her studies in fashion design and technology. "This scholarship made it possible for me to pursue my passion and start a career in something I truly love.”

Nominated by a representative from their high school, the KPU Leaders of Tomorrow awards are given to top academic high school students who will be pursuing full-time studies at KPU. President’s Awards, Honour Awards and Merit Awards are awarded to four South Fraser region school districts including Richmond, Surrey, Delta and Langley. In total 12 awards were presented totalling $98,000.

KPU offers over $100,000 in scholarships and awards annually to students who are enrolling at KPU for the first time. Academic excellence, program of study, community/school involvement and volunteer activities are some of the factors in the selection process. Eligible students may be nominated by their school district representatives, in order to be considered for one of KPU’s Leaders of Tomorrow Entrance Awards. For more info, visit: kpu.ca/awards
