Kwantlen honours business graduate with George C. Wootton Award

(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) Kwantlen Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership graduate Brandon Hastings, a Burnaby resident, has received the George C. Wootton Award at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s 2010 Convocation ceremony held at its Surrey Campus.

With a true entrepreneurial spirit, Hastings has set a bold vision for his future, albeit with a modern twist.

“My ultimate goal is to combine my BBA with a law degree,” says Hastings. “Eventually I’d like to practice business consultation mixed with dispute resolution, focused on international trade, environmental protection, human rights, and information technology.”

Hastings is already well on his way to achieving his goals, having scored in the 95th percentile on his LSAT and being accepted into both UBC and UVIC. Combining business and law is something that Hastings believes is critical for his future, “My generation will change careers an average of 10 times between the ages of 18 and 28. Maintaining the flexibility to take advantage of opportunities as they arise is critical. A global need for practitioners in this not-quite-yet-a-discipline is still emerging, and a legal degree coupled with a BBA is the fastest path to the top.”

In addition to his academic success, Hastings is an active member of the Presidential Ambassador's Team and was selected to be a representative on the University’s re-branding committee.

Kwantlen’s Board of Governors established this award to recognize outstanding dedication, service and contribution to the university system. This award considers a student’s contribution to the community, Kwantlen or voluntary activities as well as academic success.
