Kwantlen celebrates excellence at convocation ceremony

(Metro Vancouver, BC) – On October 4, 2012, Kwantlen Polytechnic University graduates took to the podium to receive their accomplished bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations.

“Once again our graduates remind us at Kwantlen Polytechnic University why our work is so rewarding,” said Dr. Alan Davis, president and vice-chancellor, Kwantlen Polytechnic University. “They are poised, optimistic and ready for their next challenge at work, in their community or in further education.”

Two graduates were honoured with the 2012 President’s Outstanding Graduate Awards. Brooke Knowlton (Surrey), bachelor of arts in psychology, and Molly Liang (Richmond), diploma in accounting, were this year’s successful recipients. The President’s Outstanding Graduate Awards are given to recipients who have completed all their study in one program at Kwantlen; have consistently shown outstanding ability in the field; have contributed in a significant way to Kwantlen or community affairs; and are recommended by faculty.

Ceremonies recognizing the achievements of graduates took place at Kwantlen’s Surrey campus. The first ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. honouring graduates from several faculties: academic & career advancement, community & health studies, design, science & horticulture, and trades & technology. The same afternoon, graduates from the faculty of arts, and the faculty of business gathered for convocation at 2:30 p.m.

A leader in interdisciplinary education, Kwantlen offers all students, regardless of background and preparation, opportunities to achieve the highest standards of academic performance as self-directed, independent learners.
