ACTIVE KPU

Research shows that walking 10,000 steps a day will significantly improve your health.  Walking can build stamina, burn excess calories and give you a healthier heart.

For the month of October, the department of Athletics & Recreation is challenging all Kwantlen students, faculty, and staff to participate in “Active KPU – From Stanley Park to Pike Place.”  The approximate amount of steps that it will take an average person to walk from Stanley Park to Pike Place is 290,000.  This event will be a fun assessment to see how all participants can change their recreational lifestyles, one step at a time.  Whether it is a walk with your friends and family, or a trip to the mall, all physical activities can be tracked and converted to the amount of steps walked.  At the end of October, participants that have exceeded 290,000 steps will be entered into a draw for a trip to Pike Place in Seattle!

Participants are encouraged to track their activities each day throughout the challenge. Their steps will be compared to the recommended daily and final goals.
