This is a Summer Session 2 course: Jul 4 to Aug 14. This 4-hour class includes time for viewing films. From the dawn of moving pictures through to the present world of blockbuster franchise movies, this course focuses students on the history and development of world cinema and examines film as a visual language and art-making practice. Students will learn methods for exploring aesthetic and technical functions of film along with considering the social, political, and technological contexts of moving pictures.
