Facilitator: Kurt Penner, Faculty in Student Leadership & Development

Fall 2012

Overview
Are you becoming too busy? Could you be vulnerable to the dreaded combination of over-commitment and under-feeding, broadly speaking? In this seminar we will take a look at our culture of busy-ness, the danger of unrealistic expectations and possibility of burnout down the road. Learn to recognize the causes and warning signs, and build some strategies into your lifestyle that help prevent the depletion of burnout.  This will be crucial for your own sanity, your friends/family and for your group’s leaders (and members) as well.  Resource

STUDENT VOLUNTEER & LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE:
THE KEY TO YOUR INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS

Presentation & Discussion

Friday November 18th
Faculty: Kurt Penner, KPU Student Leadership & Development

Student involvement beyond the classroom can help bridge the gap when trying to market your skills to employers or supervisors in a different country or culture. Come find out about the value of student leadership and volunteer experience, and also how to better market that experience for opportunities. If you already have that experience, share your own lessons with other students as part of this discussion.

Topics may include: Finding volunteer opportunities, Being strategic about your involvement (what, how much), Marketing your experience, and How Employers/Supervisors will view your resume as a student or recent grad.
