The SRIG program allowed me to significantly expand my academic profile and gain firsthand experience in scientific research. The opportunity to present my findings and receive mentorship from faculty researchers was invaluable. I am particularly grateful for the chance to explore an area with little to no prior literature involving human splenic fibroblast transfection, Thy-1, and SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This experiment taught me much about research design, creating protocols, troubleshooting experiments and analyzing data. SRIG allowed me to contribute to the scientific community and build foundational skills for my future in healthcare and possibly in research.
