The Student Research and Innovation Grant (SRIG) has been an incredible opportunity that allowed me to gain firsthand experience with academic research and understand its real-world impact. Through this program, I developed valuable technical skills, such as submitting an REB application, conducting qualitative interviews, and performing thematic analysis. As a full-time undergraduate student, the funding I received also helped me provide participant honoraria and focus entirely on my thesis, without the added pressure of working extra hours to cover research funds myself. I’m deeply grateful to Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the research department for supporting me in expanding beyond a personal area of interest and helping bring this important project to life.
