Pearl M., Psychology
The SRIG program has facilitated an unforgettable experience conducting my
Honours thesis and presenting my research to the scientific community. Because of SRIG
funding, I was able to reach a small, hard-to-access community, compensate participants
through a raffle, and present my findings at the Association for Psychological Science
conference in San Francisco alongside my peers and KPU faculty. Without the SRIG
program I would not have been able to access as many people in the community that is so
close to my heart and research interests, nor present my research at an international
conference for the first time.
Being in the Honours program has been an incredible learning journey, filled with
both challenges and the joy of overcoming them. My dreams for this project were facilitated
by my supervisor Dr. Jocelyn Lymburner, my Honours cohort, my Honours instructor Dr.
Cory Pedersen, Amanda Champion (KPU instructor and statistical wizard), and the SRIG
program. I am grateful to be part of an academic community that is so supportive of
undergraduate research. Because of this experience I feel prepared to continue my research
journey in grad school and beyond
