Thank you to KPU SRIG 2025-15 for funding my experience at the Canadian Sex Research Forum conference.

Participating in the SRIG program provided an invaluable opportunity to advance my research skills and dive into the world of academics by attending my first research conference. Our study explored whether unsolicited dick pics or selfies were more likely to elicit favorable reactions from recipients. This was my first time working on a research project outside of coursework, it challenged my academic writing abilities and data visualization skills, as there was definitely a learning curve to it. Additionally, I learned that poster and presentation design is an art as well as a science. Being able to present our poster at a research conference further enhanced my ability to communicate complex findings with professionalism and confidence. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity—it solidified my passion for gender and sexuality research and for contributing to conversations that matter.
