Sebastian V., Technical Apparel Design
The SRIG program was an invaluable support throughout the development of my Capstone project. Receiving the grant allowed me to explore and source high-quality technical fabrics that would have otherwise been out of reach. This flexibility made it possible to lab-test materials, prototype early versions using near-final fabrics to better understand their behavior, access specialized laminated Cordura textiles developed for military use, and design, test, and 3D print custom accessories tailored to the project’s unique needs. These opportunities were essential in delivering a high-quality and functional final sample. Although I didn’t use the full amount allocated, the funding gave me the confidence to prototype with intention and depth. It ultimately elevated both the quality and functionality of the final apparel system and significantly expanded what I was able to accomplish within the scope of the project.
