Terms of Reference Sodexo Funding

Purpose

Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Sodexo have entered into a 3 year agreement in support of student and facility held events at KPU. Sodexo will gift $15,000 in annual sponsorship funds to support a Community Advised Sponsorship initiative at KPU. The funds will be used to assist faculty and student groups with projects/events that will enhance the learning and student experience Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Committee

The application, which will be designed by Kwantlen in consultation with Sodexo and reviewed by a committee of representatives made up of the following:

  • 2 Sodexo representatives
  • 2 students
  • Chief Advancement Officer
  • Faculty member
  • Staff member
  • Advancement Officer

This committee will select and distribute the sponsorship funds based on the selection criteria developed between Sodexo and the Office of Advancement. Sodexo has the ability to appoint two representatives to sit on the committee, giving Sodexo the rare opportunity to have an active role in the development and selection of highlighted KPU events. This level of engagement enables Sodexo to gain a deep understanding of KPU’s uniqueness while solidifying its partnership with the University.

Funding

Call for submissions will be annually with a deadline of October 1. Application acceptance will be confirmed within four weeks. Proposal requests must be approved by the Dean or appropriate department head, but can be submitted by students, faculty or staff. For approved applications, a minimum amount of $500 (unless a lesser amount is requested) and maximum amount of $5,000 will be given out per event per year.

Requirements

Funding is available for groups only and requirements are as follows:

  • Must provide a direct benefit to students, with priority given to those projects/events that will benefit the highest number of students.
  • Consideration given to activities that increase the profile of Kwantlen and level of exposure for Sodexo.
  • Funds are committed on a one year basis; multi-year funding not available.
  • Funds must be used within 1 year after application approval.
