The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) is coming to the Lower Mainland the week of September 16th, 2013. The TRC is a comprehensive response to the Indian Residential School legacy and reflects a desire for public acknowledgement of the injustices and harms experienced by Aboriginal people and the need for continued healing.
In support of the TRC , on Friday September 20th there will be a series of public events at all 4 KPU campuses designed to increase public awareness of the legacy of the residential schools and to create opportunities for ongoing dialogue about related issues.
Classes on September 20th will be re-directed to allow students to attend these sessions. We invite the larger community to attend as well. The finale for the day will be a Pow Wow at the Surrey campus.
