I’ve been working as an Applied Behavioural Analysis Support Worker for the past 3 years in the Surrey School District.  Then, in April 2020, I got accepted into the Professional Development Program (PDP) at SFU for the Fall 2020 intake.  For the last couple of months, I’ve been enjoying my time in the PDP learning (over Zoom classes) how to become a student teacher, and eventually, I will transition to a teaching role.  I will graduate from the program in December of 2021.  I’m not yet sure in which district I will teach, but I’m excited to become a teacher and continue in the field of education.  After getting a few years of teaching under my belt, I’m hoping to complete a Masters of Education degree.

Before graduating from KPU the skills and knowledge I was obtaining in my education helped me gain employment in geographic data analysis with a private firm, and engage in ongoing research projects with KPU instructors.

Postgrad, my geography-centric employment continued for a couple of years, right up to the start of my Master’s program in the Department of Geography and Environment at Western University, London, Ontario.  In my Master’s thesis, I utilized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to link extensive GPS and household survey acquired from child volunteers to their levels of spatial engagement with health-improving parks and recreation spaces.  In December 2020 I graduated from Western with my MSc in Geography.

Currently, I am working in two positions: one as a post-Masters research associate, and the other as a GIS consultant for a data enrichment firm. With the academic credentials and skills acquired at KPU and Western, I hope to leverage myself further into the field of GIS.
