Participation in the Faculty of Science Recipe Design for Beer Enthusiasts Continuing and Professional Studies (CPS) Tuition Contest (the "Contest") constitutes the entrant's full and unconditional agreement with and acceptance of these Official Contest Rules and Regulations (“Official Rules”) and all decisions of Kwantlen Polytechnic University (“KPU” or the “Sponsor”) and its agents, which are final on all matters relating to the Contest.
- ELIGIBILITY
Entrants must be aged 19 or older, and resident of BC. KPU faculty, staff, alumni and current KPU students are not eligible. All provincial, municipal and federal laws and regulations apply. Entrants must have or create an Instagram account. The KPU Faculty of Science will direct message the Selected Entrant (defined below) over Instagram and ask them to provide their email. A Prize Release form will be sent to each Selected Entrant to be completed and returned to KPU.
2. HOW TO ENTER
Internet access is required to enter the Contest. Participants must be residents of BC and must also have an Instagram account in order to participate. A free Instagram account can be created by visiting http://instagram.com and following the appropriate link to download the free Instagram smart phone application to your mobile device, or visit your mobile device’s application store from your mobile device. In addition to compliance with these Official Rules, Instagram’s terms of use apply to all entrants and Entries. Odds of winning depend on the number of valid eligible Entries received during the Contest Period. No purchase is necessary in connection with the Contest. Use and downloading of any third-party applications such as Instagram onto your device is done at your own risk and is subject to the Release provided herein below.
To enter the Contest, entrants must:

Like the tuition contest entry post; and
Fill out an online entry form at kpu.ca/brew-cps-tuition-contest by 9:30 am Pacific Standard Time (PST) on March 31, 2025 to receive one (1) entry into the Contest (each an "Entry"). Maximum one entry per person.
Your Entry must not defame or invade the rights of any person, living or deceased or otherwise infringe upon any third party personal or proprietary rights, including any trademark or copyrights. By entering the Contest, you are representing and warranting to KPU that your Entry does not defame or invade the rights of any person, living or deceased or otherwise infringe upon any third party personal or proprietary rights, including any trademark or copyrights.
No purchase is necessary in connection with the Contest.
3. WINNER SELECTION
Four entries will be randomly drawn from all eligible available entries at 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley, BC at 10:00 am PST on March 31, 2025 (the “Contest Draw”).
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
4. PRIZE CLAIM CONDITIONS
The individuals named on the Entry(ies) drawn pursuant to the Contest Draw (each a “selected entrant”) will be notified by email or telephone on March 31, 2025 at 10:30 am PST.
In order to claim his/her Prize the selected entrant must present his or herself, with valid photo identification at the KPU Langley campus 20901 Langley Bypass, BC on or before April 3, 2025 at 4:00 pm PST. Before being declared a “Winner” and being awarded the Prize, the Winner must first correctly answer without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered at the time the selected individual presents his/herself at the Faculty of Science Dean’s Office at 20901 Langley Bypass, office 1040, Langley, BC. The Winners will also be required to complete a written declaration and prize release form, releasing the Sponsor and all of their respective directors, officers, owners, partners, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with the Contest or the use or misuse or possession of any Prize. Return of winner notification as undeliverable, inability to reach the selected entrant, failure to claim a Prize within the required time period, failure to provide proof of eligibility, release documents, or other required documentation (if requested) in a timely manner, failure to correctly answer the skill- testing question, or other non-compliance with these Official Rules may result in disqualification, forfeiture of the Prize and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, selection of an alternate selected entrant for the forfeited Prize, who will be subject to disqualification in the same manner.
To redeem the tuition waiver, winners must contact the KPU CPS office. Arrangements will then be made to enroll them into the course at no cost.
5. DEADLINES
Contest begins on March 26, 2025 at 4:00 pm PST when the @kpubrew Instagram account uploads the "Enter for a chance to win" social media post on Instagram and ends on March 31, 2025 at 9:30 am PST (the "Contest Period").
6. PRIZING
There are four (4) prizes to be awarded in connection with the Contest. Subject to the Prize Claim Conditions outlined above, the selected entrants will be awarded one prize each as follows (collectively, the “Prize”):
- 1 x $199 KPU CPS tuition waiver for Recipe Design for Beer Enthusiasts course offered asynchronously April 3 to May 8, 2025.
Total approximate value of all prizes, $199.00 CAD.
Prize/s must be accepted as awarded. No cash substitutions. Each Prize (the tuition waiver) is transferable to an immediate family member and must be redeemed before the Fall semester. The waiver expires on May 7, 2025.
7. PERSONAL INFORMATION
KPU and its authorized agents will collect, use and disclose the personal information you provide when you enter the Contest for the purposes of administering the Contest and Prize fulfillment. Such personal information is collected under the authority of and will be protected, used and disclosed in compliance with British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
By entering the Contest and accepting a Prize pursuant to the Prize Claim Conditions above, the Winners authorize Kwantlen Polytechnic University and its advertising and promotional agencies and their respective employees or other representatives, to broadcast, publish and otherwise use the Winners’ name, photograph, image, statements regarding the Contest and/or the Prizes, and (or) voice for publicity purposes relating to the Contest, without any form of remuneration, approval or further notice.
8. RELEASE
By entering this Contest, you agree to indemnify, release and hold harmless, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, its employees and its agents from and against any losses, damages, rights, claim or cause of action of any kind arising, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, out of your breach of the Official Rules, the use of your Entry in the manner set forth in these Official Rules, use of the Prize or otherwise resulting from your participating in the Contest.
9. MISCELLANEOUS
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or modify the Contest if fraud, technical failures, or anyone’s actions destroys the integrity of the Contest, or if factors beyond the Sponsor’s control make it impossible for the Sponsor to administer this Contest as planned. Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to disqualification. The Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions in cash or otherwise, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute an alternate prize of equivalent or greater value if a Prize cannot be awarded as described. The Prizes will only awarded pursuant to the Prize Claim Conditions outlined above. By entering this Contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and Instagram’s terms of use. All decisions of the Sponsor and/or Committee are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
