I’ve Registered – Now What?
We are so happy to have you on Team KPU! As you prepare for the 2026 Vancouver Sun Run, Sport and Recreation will share weekly tips and updates to help you along the way. Please see general recommendations to get you started during your first 4-weeks:
Week 1: 3 days (non-consecutive recommended) for 20-30 minutes. Depending on your current activity and comfort level, include intervals of walking and running. For example: 30-seconds of light jogging, 1-2 minutes of walking.
Week 2: 3 days (non-consecutive recommended) for 20-30 minutes. When you are comfortable doing so, increase your jogging interval and decrease your walking interval. For example: 60-seconds of light jogging, 60-90 seconds of walking.
Week 3: 3 days (non-consecutive recommended) for 25-25 minutes. Progress your intervals gradually. Increase your jogging interval only if you feel recovered and comfortable. For example: 90-seconds of light jogging, 60-seconds of walking.
Week 4: 3 days (non-consecutive recommended) for 30-40 minutes. As the duration increases, you may prefer to keep your intervals consistent or reduce your jogging intervals/increase your walking intervals. For example: 90-seconds of light jogging, 60-seconds of walking.
It is recommended that you modify your workouts based on your current activity level and goals! Start with an intensity level and pace that you are comfortable with. Stay tuned for Weeks 5 – 8! Note: The time limit for the 2026 Vancouver Sun Run is 2-hours and 30-minutes.
