The Office of Research Services (ORS) is pleased to announce a virtual webinar series, May 2025, “Research with Indigenous Communities: Principles, Partnerships, and Practices.”

The series aims to enhance awareness and foster meaningful collaborations in research involving Indigenous communities. 

Webinar Title:  Indigenous Engagement: Pathways for Shared Learning

Date & Time: May 5, 2025, from 1:00 - 2:20 pm

A 45-minute presentation by the invited speaker, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A. Following this, the ORS team member will present ORS’s contribution (20 min) in supporting Research with Indigenous communities at KPU.

Location: Online 

Speakers: Dr. Kent Mullinix (Director, Institute for Sustainable Food Systems-ISFS) and Kalista Pruden (Indigenous Partner).

ORS Contribution: Introduction to the Indigenous Research Support Initiative: Handbook on Best Practices for Indigenous Partnerships draft- Community consultations

This webinar will explore:

  1. ISFS strategies for incorporating knowledge mobilization and adaption
  2. Principles of Indigenous community engagement through research and extension
  3. ISFS methodologies for engagement and successful collaborations that honor Indigenous ways of knowing
