Description:

Let’s Talk Brewing in celebration of Canadian Homebrew Day 2024

Interested in learning about beer and brewing from an expert? Join KPU Brewing instructor Dominic Bernard, who has a Master of Science in Brewing and Distilling from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, for a free talk, brewery tour and beer tasting.
You'll learn about:
  • The history of brewing from its origins to the current craft brewing scene
  • Foundational ingredients of beer: water, malt, hops and yeast
  • Equipment used in the brewing process and the underlying biochemical changes
  • Basic beer styles: ales, lagers and mixed fermentations
The lecture will be followed by a tour of KPU's award-winning brewery, where you'll be able to check out the state-of-the-art brewing and analysis equipment, sample some malt, rub hops and taste beer produced by KPU Brewing students.
We'll also be releasing a new collaboration beer that was specially made for this event with Barley's Homebrewing Supplies.
