Stephanie-Ann Rich, Assistant Director, Employee Development

Stephanie Rich is the Assistant Director of Employee Development at DDA, where she leads training initiatives for staff and leadership teams, with a focus on cultivating a skilled, compassionate, and resilient workforce. A certified Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Instructor through CPI, Stephanie brings a trauma-informed lens to staff development and crisis prevention.

With a career rooted in the non-profit sector, Stephanie has held supervisory and managerial roles supporting children, youth, adults, and families across diverse programs. Her leadership has consistently centered on empowering both clients and the teams who serve them, fostering environments of safety, dignity, and growth. Today, she continues to champion professional development that is person-centered, inclusive, and grounded in best practices.

 

Discover Surrey

Discover Surrey is the official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the community of Surrey, operating as an independent, non-profit organization, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors representing various sectors of the tourism industry. Discover Surrey’s ultimate goal is to increase awareness of tourism opportunities in Surrey and increase the number of overnight visitors. Surrey is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in BC and the second largest city by population next to Vancouver.

Anam Rahman, Destination Services Manager  

Destination Services Manager at Discover Surrey. Originally from India, I moved to Canada as an international student to pursue a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Tourism and Events at Thompson Rivers University, after completing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in India. My tourism career began at Tourism Kamloops, where I worked for over two years before exploring other fields and ultimately returning to my true passion in tourism. I now lead visitor services and destination initiatives in Surrey, helping connect visitors and the community to all that the city has to offer.

 

Brella   

Brella as whole has a wide range of services, focused on older adults, my personal experience in my role is more towards front-line work (ie. client advocacy, systems navigation, program delivery, community collaborations, one-on-one client work) and a bit of program design.

Edwin Chau, Social Prescribing Program

Edwin Chau holds a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and works for Brella Community Services Society. He is involved in the Social Prescribing program, acting as a key Community Connector. In this role, Edwin helps people set wellness goals, connects them to community supports (practical, emotional, social), and helps them navigate services such as housing, recreation, and other supports. His work emphasizes a holistic, person centred approach to wellbeing and community connection.

 

YWCA  

YWCA Metro Vancouver is a long‑standing organization focused on women’s empowerment, social justice, equity, and supporting families. They deliver a variety of programs including youth education, employment, housing, childcare, and advocacy.

Tamara Aisake, Program Coordinator

Tamara graduated from KPU in 2021 with a BA in Sociology & a Certificate in NGO studies. She is a youth education coordinator focused on delivering volunteer-led programs for Grade 7 students called Guide To High School.

 

Chimo Community Services       

Chimo Community Services is a non‑profit organization in Richmond, BC that provides support for people in crisis, in transition, and through education. Their services include counselling, crisis lines, outreach & advocacy, transition housing (e.g. for women and children fleeing violence), newcomers’ services, workshops & community engagement. Their three pillars are Access to Housing, Access to Justice, Access to Crisis Care.

Thaddée (Thad) Bergler, Manager, Crisis Line  

Thad Bergler (he/him) is the Senior Manager of Crisis Lines with Chimo Community Services, a non-profit organization serving people through crisis care, transition and education in Richmond, BC. His career in the crisis intervention field began with pursuing his passion for giving back to the community through a volunteer opportunity at a local crisis line while completing his undergraduate degree in Sociology at Simon Fraser University. Almost 14 years later, Thad still appreciates the challenging and rewarding work in the non-profit sector, where the day-to-day work is varied, dynamic, and excitement is right around the corner.…
