Charissa Steel
B.A.Sc. Landscape Management (Olds), Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist (BCITA), Dip. Landscape Design & Installation (KPU), Chartered Herbalist (Dominion Herbal College)Charissa has worked in the landscape industry for more than 15 years from entry level positions to roles in operations management. Those roles have been in the residential, commercial, and municipal sectors.
In 2017, Charissa and a colleague represented the province of British Columbia at MosaiCanada 150. They went to Montreal to help construct living plant sculptures representing each province and territory for an exhibit that opened in Gatineau, Quebec. The exhibit for B.C. was an orca modelled after Bill Reid’s bronze statue “Chief of the Undersea World” (which is on display at the Vancouver Aquarium). After the show, the orca travelled to Coquitlam, B.C., where it is still on display in Coquitlam Town Centre Park.
Charissa is passionate about the many invaluable benefits that landscapes provide in our lives and for the environment as a whole. In particular, she is interested in balancing the needs of the client with the needs of the site’s ecosystem to produce a visually beautiful, highly functioning landscape that can adapt to the everchanging climate.
