Student Pitch Competition

The Student Pitch Competition allows students to put turn ideas into action, collaborate across disciplines and launch their entrepreneurial journey. The competition is open to all KPU students (including students in their last semester in Fall 2025)! There will be significant prizes for the winners. Last year's top 3 pitches won $5,000, $2,500 and $1,500.  

Who: Open to all KPU students to compete (including students in their last semester in Fall 2025). Open to future, current and past students, as well as faculty, staff, alumni and industry representatives to attend as guests. The application deadline is Feb 20th.

Practice Pitch Presentations: Thursday, March 12, 2026, 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM (Surrey Campus: Cedar Boardroom, #2110)

Final Pitch Presentations: Friday, May 1st, 2026, 10:00 AM to 4.00 PM (Richmond Campus: Melville Conference Centre, #2550)


On select days, students can work with faculty members to practice, enhance, and design their pitches for the competition. These sessions are highly recommended. The following sessions have been scheduled with Afshin Doustmohammadi:

January 24 | 10:00am-1:00pm (social hour from 1:00pm - 2:00pm)
February 21 | 10:00-1:00pm (social hour from 1:00pm - 2:00pm) - this session was rescheduled. It is now on Feb 21 (not Feb 14)
February 28 | 10:00am-1:00pm (social hour from 1:00pm - 2:00pm)

Afshin Doustmohammadi is an entrepreneur and business leader with a consulting, technology, and finance background. He has founded and guided several startups, helping them grow, secure investments, and develop strategic partnerships. Known for his hands-on approach, Afshin is passionate about innovation and works closely with businesses to help them reach their full potential.

We will be hosting three online information sessions (dates and times below) where we’ll provide more details about the pitch and application process, and answer any questions you may have. Competition Details

Students who register on this website (using the above "Register to Compete" form) will receive an application and be asked to submit a short video. Up to 15 candidates will be selected to attend the practice pitch event on March 12, 2026. The practice pitches will be evaluated by a faculty panel. The finalists will move to the final pitch round, which will take place on May 1, 2026.
