The City is seeking a Regular Full-time Arborist to join their dedicated and skilled team in the Parks Operations Division. Under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks Operations, this supervisory position performs a variety of skilled arboriculture tasks including conducting risk assessments, planting, pruning, removal, disease treatment and the investigation of tree-related complaints. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised, while complex matters are referred to a superior.

RATE OF PAY: $40.38 per hour (2024 CUPE rates)
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in arboriculture and of the hazards and proper safety precautions applicable to the work. Prior arboricultural experience within a municipal setting is desirable. Completion of a diploma program in horticulture supplemented by courses in arboriculture or a related apprenticeship program, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training or experience is desirable.

Registration as a Certified Arborist (ISA or equivalent), Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License are required.
