Job Description
Fruits and Shoots Plant Farm is a specialty nursery focused on edible plants, perennials, and ornamental plants for serious home gardeners. We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented team member to assist primarily with nursery plant care and production. This role focuses on the daily work of growing and maintaining healthy plants. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in careful plant care, and has prior experience working with plants in a nursery, greenhouse, or garden setting. Our nursery is growing quickly and this position has the potential to grow into a larger role within the nursery over time, including responsibilities related to plant production and nursery management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Watering and monitoring plant health Transplanting and potting plants
- Weeding containers and production areas Spacing, organizing, feeding, and maintaining nursery plants Assisting with seasonal plant production tasks
- Plant propagation
- Maintaining clean and orderly growing areas
Additional Tasks May Include;
- Assisting customers with plant questions when comfortable
- Helping maintain attractive nursery displays Supporting general nursery operations during busy periods
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience growing or caring for plants Is attentive to detail and takes pride in careful work
- Enjoys physical outdoor work in all weather
- Can work independently and stay focused on routine tasks Is dependable and consistent Is available 3–5 days per week, including some Saturdays
- Is genuinely interested in horticulture as a craft and long-term profession
Position Details
Seasonal position beginning in early spring 3–5 days per week depending on season
Potential for reduced part-time hours during winter
Formal horticulture training is considered an asset but not a requirement.
