KPU Eagles Athletics - Game Day & Athletics Operations
The KPU Athletics Department prides itself on fostering a winning culture not only on the court/field but off as well!  In order for this winning culture to succeed, a diligent behind the scenes team must ensure all athletics events run smoothly and effectively, for our teams as well as our fans. The KPU Athletics Department seek energetic, customer service oriented team members to join our athletics event staff team for the 2014-2015 varsity season.

Student Assistants
Primary Responsibilities:
Student Assistants work part time at the Athletics and Recreation front desk. Supervision and maintenance of the Fitness Centre and gymnasium, setting up sports equipment, lending out equipment, washing and folding laundry (towels and athlete uniforms) and taking payments for fitness centre memberships & recreation programs. Student Assistants are paid hourly on a bi-weekly basis.

Qualifications: We are looking for current KPU students who are sports and fitness minded, who are outgoing, and who enjoy working with people.  The position requires some physical fitness/strength due to the physical nature of the job. Previous experience in fitness or sports teams is preferable but not a requirement. 

Requirements: Assistants work weekday afternoons &evenings from 11:30-3:30 & 3:30-7:00 PM, some mornings and some weekends depending on the varsity game schedule and gymnasium rentals.

Event Assistant/Team Hospitality (One (1) position for the season):
Primary Responsibilities: Assisting the Athletic Facilities and Events Coordinator with set-up/take-down of sport events (basketball/soccer/badminton).  This individual will consult directly with coaches, facilities staff and campus security on a regular basis.  Must be able to problem solve in a timely manner and have working knowledge of the PACWEST Conference regulations.

Qualifications: Responsible, organized and confident individual with some computer knowledge, experience in cash handling is an asset. Applicant must be able to problem solve in a mature and calm manner.

Requirements:  Must be able to work evenings and weekends from January –April 2015.

Video Staff (Two (2) positions for basketball):
Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for videography for all league competitions and events within the varsity season and ensure that games are properly recorded and saved. This individual will work with the Athletic Events and Facilities Coordinator.  Must be able to problem solve in a timely manner and have working knowledge of SportCanada.tv and video recording devices.

Qualifications: Knowledge of video camera and computers is preferred and some familiarly with rules and regulations for soccer, basketball and badminton.

Requirements:  Must be able to work evenings and weekends from January –April 2015. Knowledge and experience using video equipment and online production an asset.

Game Day Announcer/DJ (One (1) position for basketball):
Primary Responsibilities: The PA announcer’s duties include announcing starting line-ups, all game actions and play-by-play (basketball), public address announcements, presentations, contests and music selection for time-outs/half-time, team entrance music and other duties as requested. The PA Announcer is the main voice of KPU Athletics while in the Eagles Nest at KPU.  The PA Announcer will work closely with the game day assistant and the Event Coordinator.

Qualifications: Strong vocal talent, unique personality, strong knowledge of university basketball and soccer, ability to multi-task, comfortable announcing to crowds of 500 people on a microphone.  Ability to be spontaneous and react quickly and appropriately.  Experience working as a PA Announcer during high school/varsity sports or radio preferred, but not required.

Requirements: Must be able to work evenings and weekends January –April 2015 (basketball).

Minor Officials (Three (3) positions for Basketball):
Primary Responsibilities:  Responsible for operating time clock(s), shot clocks and possession arrows during basketball and soccer games and ability to fill out score sheets in a timely manner in accordance with the PACWEST (CCAA) Conference guidelines and rules.

Qualifications: Understanding of FIBA/FIFA rules and regulations is an asset. Ability to multi-task and work in a high stress, fast paced environment and be comfortable with technology.

Requirements: Must be able to work evenings and weekends (including some Sundays) from January-April 2015.

CyberSports Statistician (Two (2) positions for the basketball season):
Primary Requirements: As part of our participation in the PACWEST, KPU is mandated to provide computer generated statistics at all of our home basketball games. The software used, CyberSports, is a U.S. designed program that enables event managers to provide a complex array of statistics at half-time and at the end of each game.
Qualifications: strong knowledge and understanding of FIBA basketball rules, strong computer skills and willing to work as a member our basketball event management team. The successful incumbents will work together as a team to provide computer generated statistics in the positions of Computer programmer and Caller.

Requirements: Must be able to work evenings and weekends from January – April 2015.
