Concurrent Studies

Concurrent Studies

KPU is pleased to offer students in either grade 11 or 12 the opportunity to concurrently enrol in university courses, while still in high school!

Current high school students are welcome to apply to take one (or more) KPU courses concurrently with their regular scheduled high school classes. Credits earned count toward university studies and may also count toward high school graduation. Similar to the Dual Credit program, Concurrent Studies is designed for students who are wanting a head start on their university studies, are seeking to deepen their academic knowledge, and are wanting a rewarding and fulfilling challenge.

Difference Between Dual Credit and Concurrent Studies:

Dual Credit Concurrent Studies

Dual Credit is a partnership program with several school districts, who provide funding and support for students to take agreed upon university courses.

Concurrent Studies is an opportunity for students to independently take university courses outside of a partnership program. Subsequently, the student is responsible for paying the associated tuition and fees. For a breakdown of costs and tuition, please visit KPU's Tuition Estimator.

Who Can Apply?

High school students in grade 11 or 12 are encouraged to apply online. Students must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must have outstanding academic achievement, demonstrated by their high school transcript and a letter of support from their principal.

  • A high school transcript showing interim and final grades for courses completed or in progress.
