This engaging hands-on program introduces youth to the Automotive, Electrical, Plumbing, and Millwright/Industrial Mechanic trades. Participants will explore foundational trade concepts, learn the safe use of industry-standard tools, and complete practical projects designed to build confidence and technical skills.
Projects and activities are centered around sustainability, Indigenous perspectives, and connections to the local environment, helping students understand the real-world impact of the skilled trades. Topics include workplace safety, measurements and trades mathematics, basic tool handling, internal combustion engines, automotive fundamentals, electricity and wiring, water pressure and flow systems, and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems.
The fun and exciting week will begin with introductions and orientation to the program and appropriate safety training followed by exposure to 4-5 skilled trades through hands-on learning and instruction combined with storytelling.
