Course Description

Nurse Ready Boot Camp is designed for both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who are seeking additional support for the clinical milieu.  The focus of Nurse Ready Boot Camp is to enhance psychomotor skills, professional communication, assessment skills, critical thinking, safety and organizational skills. Please note, this course does not replace individual courses with a specific foci. Learners for Nurse Ready Boot Camp are typically returning to the nursing environment after an absence, or currently working and are looking to enhance their competency for a career change and/or need a quick review for other personal reasons. Learners will be provided a customized learning plan to meet their goals and aspirations with feedback reports throughout the course.  This course will provide learning opportunities not typically accessible in short course format and includes access for additional skills practice. Learners will focus on specific learning topics throughout Nurse Ready Boot Camp supplemented with demonstration and practice.

Course Format

Nurse Ready Boot Camp is offered over one week, Monday-Friday evenings and is referred to as the Boot Camp.  Note: The one week Boot Camp/Condensed option would not be suitable for anyone advised to undertake Nurse Ready for consideration into GNIE.

The one (1) week Boot Camp/Condensed course involves self-study and one week on site learning in the psychomotor skills lab setting. The expectation is for learners to access the course website and complete all requirements prior to attending class. Learners are encouraged to work through course modules and review in advance of each class.  Learners have additional time outside course hours for practice of psychomotor skills. This is a mixed mode course offering online theoretical learning with intensive hands on instructor led psychomotor skills labs.   In person sessions are Monday - Friday 1600-2100 (subject to change i.e. statutory holidays).   Learners are provided a nursing uniform and a professional grade stethoscope on the first day of class.

Learners must access the course website and successfully complete all online learning modules, participate fully in lab, and execute skills safely.

Course Cost

$1,650 CAD, plus GST for either option  (Please note: All Faculty of Health, Professional Studies course fees are non-refundable/non-transferrable.)

Fees also includes a uniform and professional grade stethoscope and a practice skills lab kit.

Course Grade

There is no grade assigned for Nurse Ready Boot Camp. Learners may repeat course without limitations.

How to Register

Registration is completed via Flexreg.  The course to search is PNUR 9036.  There are multiple options available as the course is offered monthly, with a few exceptions.  Be sure to select the correct course as transfers into alternate Nurse Ready Boot Camp or Nurse Ready sections are not available and there are no refunds.

  2. Access to a computer/internet.  Wi-Fi technology not recommended for quiz/exams.  Online course modality may not be fully functional when utilizing iPads &/or android devices.
  3. Uniform is required and will be supplied on Day 1 of class.
  4. Professional Grade Stethoscope will be provided on Day 1 of class.
