Eagles suffer crucial losses to Falcons

(Surrey, BC) The Kwantlen Eagles basketball teams fell to the Langara Falcons last Friday night, as the
women lost (55-62) and the men lost (56-78), dropping their records to (2-7) and (4-5) in British Columbia
Colleges’ Athletic Association (BCCAA) conference play.

Thanks to the efforts of Melissa Adrian (Langley) and Taminder Dhaliwal (Surrey), scoring 15 and 11
points, respectfully, the women’s team played Langara tight all game. Down 28-23 at half time, the Eagles
responded by with 20 points in the third quarter to even the game at 43. Unfortunately, the squad was
forced into several key turnovers which enabled Langara to pull out the win.

“Each week we are getting closer” said head coach Gary Pawluk. “Langara is a playoff team and they know
how to win the close games. It’s something that we still learning to do but I see the efforts of the team
paying off.”

The men’s team faced a hot shooting Falcon squad who hit 45% of their shots. Both Kevin Kokoska (Langley)
and Mike Davis (White Rock) put up all-around efforts as the pair counted with 14 points and five rebounds
and 11 points and 12 rebounds, respectively.

Other losses around the league in the men’s division allowed the Eagles to retain their hold of a playoff
berth, as a four tie between Capilano, Douglas and CBC emerged. Next up for the Eagles is the Douglas
College Royals who will travel to Surrey on Friday, January 23 and Saturday, January 24 at 6:00pm and
8:00pm.
