Kwantlen Polytechnic University Launches Inter-Campus Shuttle

METRO VANCOUVER, BC - (August 29, 2011) - Kwantlen Polytechnic University (Kwantlen) and the Kwantlen Student Association (KSA) are excited to announce the launch of their inter-campus shuttle, a service to students and staff of the University to shuttle them between Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley throughout the day. This program is a joint initiative involving Kwantlen, the KSA, and a private contract for the service. This first-of-its-kind, pilot project is an innovative approach to ‘filling in gaps’ that exist with the current transit options available in Kwantlen’s communities.

This fall, Kwantlen is joining 9 other post-secondary institutions in launching the universal U-Pass BC transit program (U-Pass) for students. The program provides system-wide transit access including bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain, as well as discounts on the West Coast Express.

To enhance the U-Pass, the KSA also secured additional partnerships for services to benefit the student population. The inter-campus shuttle and these additional services make up Kwantlen’s unique Multi-Pass, available this fall. Other services included in the Multi-Pass are: discounted Gold’s Gym passes, a Car2Go car sharing program, discounts on grocery delivery services and more.

“The University is very excited about this transportation opportunity not only for our students but also for our employees” says Jody Gordon, Associate Vice President, Students. “As a multi-campus institution many of our employees travel between campuses to conduct university business. The shuttle offers them convenient access to do so.”

Ben Newsom, KSA, Multi-Pass Coordinator stated “We are excited to be working alongside the University on this program that promotes a new way of thinking about transportation in the South Fraser region. The KSA is thrilled that students will be able to take advantage of this new service to help them move swiftly throughout the Kwantlen campuses”.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University has been serving the Metro Vancouver region for 30 years, and has opened doors to success for more than 200,000 people. Four campuses—Richmond, Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley—offer a comprehensive range of sought-after programs, including business, liberal arts and science, design, health, trades and technology, apprenticeships, horticulture, and academic and career advancement. Over 17,000 students annually have a choice from over 135 programs, including bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations.
