Kwantlen's convocation ceremony moves to new venue to host its largest convocation ever

(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) Kwantlen Polytechnic University has seen tremendous growth over recent years and just as enrolment numbers increase, so do the number of graduates and attendees at convocation. Kwantlen will hold convocation at the Langley Events Centre, a larger venue that will allow, for the first time ever, the accommodation of all graduates and their guests. Convocation will take place May 31st, with ceremonies at 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

"Kwantlen's 2012 spring convocation is creating another first for the university and the Langley campus that is consistent with the 2009 initiative to refurbish and transform Langley into a destination campus," says John McKendry, president and vice-chancellor. "Part of the university's ongoing commitment is to become more integrated into the unique features of each of the distinct communities it serves stretching from Richmond in the west to Langley and Maple Ridge in the east."

While Kwantlen bids farewell to hundreds of graduates this spring, the university will also welcome its new president Alan Davis during convocation. Davis will succeed John McKendry as president starting September 2012.
This convocation will be the largest in Kwantlen history with 800 plus graduates, and over 4,400 guests. The university is confident that Kwantlen's rising profile and role in Langley will have a positive influence on youth and encourage them to pursue post-secondary education.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University has been serving the Metro Vancouver region for 30 years, and has opened doors to success for more than 200,000 people. Four campuses—Richmond, Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley—offer a comprehensive range of sought-after programs including business, liberal arts and science, design, health, trades and technology, apprenticeships, horticulture, and academic and career advancement. Over 17,000 students annually have a choice from over 135 programs including bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations.
