Kwantlen golf tournament raises $27,000 for student athletes

(Metro Vancouver, BC) – Kwantlen Polytechnic University Foundation raised $27,000 during its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament. The event took place at the Northview Golf & Country Club in Surrey last month, with all proceeds benefiting student athletes.

"We are very grateful for the support of the sponsors, golfers and volunteers who helped make this tournament a success," says Wayne McKay, foundation director and golf committee chair, Kwantlen Polytechnic University Foundation. "Proceeds from events like this provide important funding that allows our student athletes to compete in intercollegiate athletics while pursuing post-secondary education. Each time an athlete from Kwantlen steps out on the court or field, there is confidence in knowing both their community and university are behind them."

The annual golf tournament is one of the many ways Kwantlen partners with the community to build momentum for a more integrated and involved future. During the tournament, student volunteers are able to see first-hand how support from their community directly impacts their experience at Kwantlen; and it's because of this generosity students are able to learn in an environment that fosters continuous advancement.

Kwantlen's Foundation supports students in their journey to success through fundraising initiatives and numerous scholarships, bursaries and awards. Each year more than $2 million is distributed to eligible students at Kwantlen, including $225,000 to new students.
