KPU Surrey to host the seventh annual South Fraser Regional Science Fair

(Metro Vancouver, BC) – Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) faculty of science and horticulture is pleased to host, in partnership with Simon Fraser University (SFU), the seventh annual South Fraser Regional Science Fair. The fair will take place at KPU’s Surrey campus April 11-12, 2013.

“We are very excited to once again host the South Fraser Regional Science Fair,” said Dr. Elizabeth Worobec, dean, faculty of science and horticulture, KPU. “This event is a great showcase of the wealth of scientific talent found in our local community.”

Everyone is welcome to attend this free event in support of local students. Come see over 65 science projects created by approximately 125 students from 31 schools in the Surrey and Delta areas. Students participating range from grades seven to twelve and they have worked hard to create a science-related project in one of six categories: biotechnology, earth and environmental sciences, engineering and computing sciences, health sciences, life sciences, and physical and mathematical sciences.

“The Surrey campus will be abuzz with scientific energy! Local junior and high school students will be competing for a chance to represent the South Fraser Region at the Canada-Wide Science Fair,” said Dr. Worobec. “A number of our past regional winners have gone on to compete in both North American and international competitions.”

Students will compete for up to eight positions to represent BC at the Canada-wide Science Fair in Lethbridge, Alberta, from May 11-18, 2013.
