McPhail continues to dominate in the PACWEST with strong contributions on both sides of the court during last week’s games versus the Langara College Falcons and the Douglas College Royals.  The fifth-year post had a double-double on Friday’s win over the Falcons with 18 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots, and one steal. In Saturday’s game against the Royals she had eight points, 12 rebounds, one assist, and three steals. As a result of her hard work,McPhail is now nationally ranked 22nd in the CCAA as a leader in rebounds this week with 12 games and 105 rebounds  for a game average of 8.75 rebounds/game. Last week she was ranked 41st in rebounds in the CCAA (10 games, 73 rebounds, average 7.3 rebounds/game), up from the previous week’s 49th place (8 games played, 52 rebounds, 6.5 average rebounds/game).

“Sam was brilliant this weekend,” said Eagles Head Coach Dan Nayebzadeh, “She had 32 rebounds for the weekend, played with intensity and passion, and she led our team to a very important victory over Langara.”

MBB 14 Navdeep Brar 14/15
Brar continues to show strong improvement in his inaugural year of university basketball. The first-year centre shows greater confidence in his game. A steady and consistent presence for the Eagles on defense, Brar’s dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to the game make him an excellent role model.

“Nav is showing a lot of maturity and is being more effective in the paint,” stated Eagles Head Coach Vladimir Nikić, “He is becoming a very good shot blocker, an excellent rebounder, and we definitely need his defensive presence in order to be successful at this level.”
