Metro Vancouver…..The KPU Eagles Department of Athletics and Recreation are exceptionally proud of our women and men’s basketball programs as the 2014/15 PACWEST Basketball Awards were announced today. The Eagles congratulate second-year guard Shilpa Khanna, Surrey, BC, named a 2nd Team All-Star, and first-year power forward Matt (Madison) Cooley, Delta, BC, named to the All-Rookie Team.

WBB 13 Shilpa Khanna 14/15
Khanna has been an exceptional offensive leader for the Eagles in 2014/15. In 19 regular-season games with 334 points (averaging 15.9 points per game), she finished in third place in PACWEST and tied for 18th nationally in the CCAA in scoring. This is Khanna’s second consecutive year to be honored for her play in the PACWEST, as she was named to the 2013/14 All-Rookie Team and was also the 2014 ‘Rookie of the Year’.

The Eagles women’s basketball team finished sixth in the PACWEST to clinch the final playoff spot. KPU takes to the court tomorrow at 1:00pm in quarter-final action in the 2015 PACWEST Basketball Provincials. The Eagles will take on the Douglas College Royals, in Abbotsford, BC at Columbia Place, as Provincials are hosted by the Columbia Bible College Bearcats.

MBB 25 Matt Cooley 14/15
Cooley had a tremendous start to his university basketball career and showed dominance on both ends of the court with seven double-doubles over 20 games played. At the end of the 2014/15 PACWEST season with 194 rebounds (averaged to 9.7 rebounds per game), Cooley was ranked number one in rebounding in the conference and 20th nationally in the CCAA. He was also named PACWEST 'Athlete of the Week' for the week ending November 2nd, 2015.

The Eagles men’s basketball team finished in seventh place, outside of the playoffs in 2014/15, and will gear up to host their 2015 Player Identification Camp on April 16, 2015, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Eagles’ home gymnasium on the KPU Surrey campus. The purpose of this camp is to identify any Grade 11 and 12 students or any prospective or current KPU students who are interested in playing interuniversity/collegiate varsity basketball at the PACWEST CCAA levels for the KPU Eagles.

Please pre-register for the men's basketball camp* online by filling out the webform and waiver (see links below) prior to Friday, February 27th 2015. The completed waivers and payment of the $20.00 fee must be submitted to our KPU Eagles staff at the field before warm-ups in order for you to participate.
