Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is home to five chaplains who support students, particularly international students, with personal, spiritual or philosophical matters.
“The Multi-Faith Centre provides spiritual wellness for our students, and our role as chaplains is to make sure the students are thriving,” says Inderjeet Singh, KPU Surrey chaplain.

“It is extremely important to have a space like the Multi-Faith Centre because our community is growing, it’s very multicultural and it’s very important that everyone feels like they belong,” says Singh.
The centre isn’t only for faith-related issues, according to KPU Richmond chaplain Masih Sabet. It’s a space for students to feel comfortable talking about anything on their mind.
“They can come and talk to people like myself about grievances or homesickness —being away from their family,” says Sabet. “The little bit of information I can share with them can make a big difference.”
Each campus also has a prayer and meditation room. These spaces are available to KPU students and employees of all faiths and secular beliefs who want to participate in worship, reflection and meditation while on campus.
