It's the fourth annual Bike-A-Thon at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU). The event brings together the KPU community as participants take turns cycling on stationary bikes to keep the wheels turning continuously for 24 hours.
The event takes place at KPU Tech as the goal of the event is to encourage conversations about mental health during Movember.
"The purpose is to start conversations on campus, to normalize conversations about mental health which is really needed in the trades," says Jenna Smith, events and communications specialist with KPU's Community Engagement and Major Events.
The event has become popular with trades students such as Mantej Pandher who first participated last year.
"Participating in this event, we saw another side of each other like a fourth wall break outside the classroom. We were able to have fun, there were games set up, we were able to bond and I feel like that's exactly what it's all about. We had time to reflect on each other's mental health and just talk," says Pandher.
The Bike-A-Thon starts at 11 a.m. on Nov. 4 and ends at 11 a.m. on Nov. 5. To participate in the event, become a sponsor, or donate to the KPU Movember Team, visit the Bike-A-Thon registration page.
