Lab Services Offered

The KPU Applied Genomics Centre is fully equipped with genomic tools, and able to conduct Sanger and Next-Generation sequencing, and various other services. All work is conducted by trained personnel on state-of-the-art equipment under the supervision of AGC’s leadership.

Lab Services

  • Sanger Sequencing
    • High-quality sequencing of DNA fragments up to 700-800bp performed on our SeqStudio Genetic Analyzer.
  • Nucleotide Extractions & Purifications
    • DNA Extraction (Using standard kits or CTAB), RNA Extraction & cDNA conversions, and Bisulfite conversions
    • Optional add Ons: PCR and PCR clean-up
  • 16S Metagenomics
    • Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) to profile the microbial communities in gut content, soil, water, and other samples.
    • Add-on: Fungal identification via ITS sequencing for a more comprehensive profile.
  • Custom Short-Read Sequencing
    • short-read NGS sequencing using the Illumina MiSeq i100 PLUS system.
    • Examples: Methylation analysis, custom targeted amplicon sequencing, and AmpliSeq panels
  • Bacterial Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)
    • Complete genome sequencing of small bacterial genomes using short-read (Illumina) and/or long-read (Nanopore) technologies.
  • qPCR Analysis
    • Fast and accurate identification of specific pathogens by quantitative PCR.
  • SNP Analysis
    • High-throughput SNP using our Illumina iScan platform.
    • SNP arrays are only available for certain species – please contact us for details.
  • Bioinformatics
    • Consultation with our bioinformatics team and development of custom bioinformatic pipelines.
    • Standard bioinformatic analyses (i.e 16s metagenomics)
