Genomic and Metabolomic Solutions for Agriculture
The Applied Genomics Centre (AGC), supported by Genome BC is Canada’s first Technology Access Centre (TAC) engaged in applied research and development of genomic and metabolomic tools to support the agri-tech sector.
Founded in January 2019 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University's (KPU) Surrey campus, the AGC is an applied research centre focused on developing molecular genetic and cellular product solutions for the agricultural and human health sectors.
The AGC TAC is partnered with a variety of industry and academic institutions in the British Columbia and across Canada. We also work closely with KPU's Institute for Sustainable Horticulture to provide genetic support for sustainable farming methods in B.C. and beyond.
Our scientific research delivers opportunities for students in health science, biology, and horticulture programs to gain critical research and development skills while engaged in projects that have a direct impact on their community.
Development of the lab was funded by KPU, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI), and the BC Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF)
