Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Brewery Supervisor to lead our brewing operations team and oversee the daily activities of staff within our brewery. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of beer production, and a passion for craft brewing. The Brewery Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a positive environment for staff and customers alike.

Duties

  • Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of workers who process, package, test and grade food and beverage products,
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with operations manager,
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Requisition materials and supplies,
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy,
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hirings and promotions,
  • Prepare production and other reports.
  • Prepare and update Standard Operation Procedures,
  • Implement HACCP for Brewery operations.
  • Develop and implement plans to efficiently use raw materials, labour and equipment to meet brewery production targets.
  • Plan and manage the beer production budget.
  • Plan and implement changes to beer manufacturing machinery and equipment, production systems and methods of work (SOPs).
  • Develop equipment maintenance schedules and recommend the repair or replacement of brewery equipment.
  • Supervise and train employees in the use of brewery equipment or production techniques.
  • Move raw materials, finished product and packaging materials throughout the brewery in support of wort production and packaging.
  • Operate pumps and clean in place equipment in the brewery.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment.
  • Handle a large workload with multiple preventative and repair tasks/projects.
  • Set up brewing equipment and make running adjustments to ensure maximum efficiency.

  • Lift 25kg from ground to shoulder high. Lift 50kg from ground to waist high.
  • Self-starter, organized and detail oriented; accurate record-keeping and time management skills.
  • Be able to work on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a forklift operators certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexible schedule: weekdays/ weeknights/ weekends/ holidays occasionally as required
  • Work safely with chemicals with appropriate safety accommodations
  • Assist with local and regional distribution of finished product.
  • Comfortable with use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Completion or enrolment in Power Engineering Class 4.
  • Confined space entry certification.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Good Certificate.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS) certificate.
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Certificate.
  • Forklift certification
  • Standard First Aid.

Experience and Education

  • One to two years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Two to three years of brewing, cellaring and canning experience in a commercial brewery.
  • Post-secondary education in brewing, microbiology or chemistry.

Work Location: In person

Wage: $36.60/hr at 30-40 hours per week.
