Apprentice Registration Process
As an apprentice, you can request registration in an available apprenticeship intake by completing the Apprenticeship Registration Request Form. Completed forms must be sent to Apprentice Services.
Please note, apprentices apply for the master waitlists rather than for a particular intake. We offer seats on a first come first serve basis.
We recommend that you register in current and future apprenticeship intakes to support your technical training progression.
Apprentice Receipt of Registration Request
After receiving your registration form, Apprentice Services will send you a letter within 14 days acknowledging your request. The information provided in this letter will direct you to KPU online resources for updates to your request.
Apprentice Registration Request Qualifying Process
Apprentice Services evaluates your request for registration, using your SkilledTradesBC apprentice records. This ensure you've met the STBC published registration requirements for the apprenticeship level you have requested registration in.
Apprentice Services will also evaluate your KPU records to ensure Apprentice Payments, Refunds and Fee Adjustment have been met.
Apprenticeship Financial Support
After confirming your attendance, start enrolling in both provincial and federal financial aid. Please visit Apprenticeship Financial Support for more information.
Apprentice Outstanding Registration Requirements
If you do not meet the STBC published registration requirements and/or the full payment for the intake has not been received by KPU, your registration request cannot be confirmed and remains pending.
Apprentice Services will provide you with a deadline to correct outstanding registration requirements.
You are responsible for your registration and must check your KPU student email account daily to ensure that you do not miss an email notification.
Apprentice Withdraw Registration
You may withdraw from an apprenticeship level until the mid-point of the course.
To officially withdraw from an apprenticeship program, please send an email from your KPU email account to apprentice@kpu.ca, Please include your name, student number and the program your are withdrawing from in the email.
If you stop attending class but do not officially withdraw by the deadline you will be assigned a grade based on the work completed in the level.
All withdrawals are subject to the Refunds and Fee Adjustments Rules.
Apprenticeship Waitlist Registration
Before registering in a waitlist, it is important to ensure financial holds are cleared from your account; these holds prevent future registration.
You can register in an apprentice waitlist by completing the Apprenticeship Registration Request Form. Forms must be sent to Apprentice Services.
When registering in an apprenticeship waitlist the Apprentice Evaluation Fee or Tuition and Mandatory Student Fees are not assessed.
Seat Offer Notification
Based on the waitlist registration priority, seat offer notifications are sent to your KPU email address as soon as a seat becomes available.
Each apprentice who receives a notification will be given a deadline to contact Apprentice Services and either accept or decline their registration.
You are responsible for your waitlist registration and must check your KPU email account daily to ensure that you do not miss an email notification. This email is the only notification that you will receive regarding the availability of a seat in a class with a waitlist.
Acceptance of Seat Offer from Waitlist
Accept by contacting Apprentice Services before the given a deadline.
After accepting your seat offer, you will need to pay your tuition in full and your request will be subject to the Apprentice Registration process outlined above.
The regulations regarding fee payment deadlines, refunds of tuition and withdrawals will also be applied.
If you do not respond within the stated timelines, no further notification will be provided and you will be removed from the waitlist.
