Learning in University - What to Expect in Your First Semester

The first semester of a new university program presents many opportunities for academic and personal growth. To get started on the right foot, it helps to know what will be expected in your courses.  In this interactive workshop, you will explore a university Course Presentation, and identify ways you can be proactive in developing the skills that lead to success

Getting the Most from Your Textbook

Feeling overwhelmed by your new textbooks? This workshop will introduce you to strategies for reading textbooks strategically – so that you remember more of what you read.  Learn to read with a purpose, and take notes you can use to prepare for tests and exams.

Writing Skills for Health Sciences

Success in Health Sciences requires you to take your writing skills to the next level.  In this workshop, you will explore the requirements for writing assignments in your foundation courses, and outline a step-by-step process for working on a writing project.  You will also connect with the services that can support you as a writer.

Procrastination – It’s Complicated

Quit putting it off. A few adjustments to how you approach your studies can make a big difference. Learn strategies to avoid procrastination by making a realistic plan and sticking to it. Get your projects done before the clock runs out.

Active Learning for Exam Success

In a few weeks, you will write your first exams as a Health Sciences student.  Exam success begins now.  By regularly incorporating a variety of learning strategies into your weekly study routine, you will retain the material that you learn week-by-week, and avoid the stress of cramming.
