KPU Brew Lab reopens for beer sales with launch of six-packs!
Visit the KPU Brew Lab where new brewers are learning the art, science and business of craft brewing! Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) offers the only Brewing Diploma in BC — one of only three offered in Canada — and is the first and only Canadian institution to be recognized by the Master Brewers Association for a standard of excellence in brewing education. As well, the program was named top brewing school in North America at the 2019 US Open College Beer Championship where our students won two gold medals and one silver this year. KPU Brewing also won multiple awards at the 2019 BC Beer Awards (BCBA) and took home the top honour as the BCBA BREWERY OF THE YEAR.
Every week, we feature our small-batch craft beers on tap, offering growler fills, complimentary tastings and guided tours*. The beer menu at the KPU Brew Lab changes weekly, so we highly recommend you follow our Facebook and Twitter accounts (@KPUBrew) for the latest selections on tap, as well as upcoming events and any changes to our opening hours (e.g., stat holidays, special events, closures, etc.).
*Pre-registration required for tours. See 'Tours & Tastings' section below for details.
What's On Tap
The KPU Brew Lab carries four of our award-winning beers as our core styles, including:
> 50/50 Hefe
KPU Brew's award-winning Hefeweizen; a super smooth ale with traditional notes of banana and clove. We call it '50/50' because it's made with 50% wheat malt but trust us, it's 100% delicious. This golden-coloured, hazy Hefe has 5.5% ABV and 14 IBUs. (Vegan)
> Das Fest
You don't have to leave the country to enjoy a crisp, traditional German Festbier. You can celebrate Oktoberfest all year long with KPU Brew's Das Fest, an award-winning pale German Lager with 5.5% ABV and 24 IBUs. (Vegan)
> Birra Rossa
KPU Brew's award-winning, malt-forward American amber ale made with New World hops and developed in collaboration with visiting Italian brewing students. This refreshing amber-coloured beer has 5.5% ABV and 30 IBUs. (Vegan)
> Schwarz
Not a dark beer lover? This beer might just convert you to the dark side! KPU Brew's award-winning, German-style dark lager that's crisp and refreshing with notes of chocolate and coffee. 5% ABV and 24 IBUs. (Vegan)
To find out which small-batch beers we have on tap each week, follow us on social media at @KPUBrew (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) for the latest updates. Plus, keep an eye out for the release of our students' signature-recipe, limited-edition beers typically launched in January or February each year.
