About the Students

KPU Brewing students Amara Houle and Ethan Chan-Hunter wanted to brew an accessible beer that was simple and delicious. And ESBs just happen to be Ethan’s favourite beer style! The name Best Blokes was inspired by the close-knit community of Brew students and friends getting together to enjoy a pint in the local pub.

Amara was a dental assistant looking for a more creative career and was drawn to the KPU Brewing program, as well as the outdoor BC lifestyle. When she’s not studying for school or working at The Barley Merchant in Langley, you’ll find Amara outside with friends climbing mountains.

Before deciding to become a brewer, Ethan was pursuing a degree in political science and focused on a career in law when he decided to change course and pursue brewing. He’s also an avid drawer and is currently working at Mariner Brewing in Coquitlam.
