As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes the world our students are growing up in, educators have a powerful opportunity to guide them in understanding, questioning, and using these tools responsibly. This workshop is designed to demystify AI and provide practical, classroom-ready strategies that empower teachers to integrate AI thoughtfully—regardless of subject area or grade level.

In this highly interactive six-hour workshop, K–12 educators will gain the practical tools and confidence needed to bring AI into any classroom.

Participants will learn to create a clear, student-friendly AI glossary, identify and showcase AI examples, and apply an ethics checklist to select classroom-appropriate tools.

Through guided activities, they will adapt existing lessons with brief AI exploration segments and design a fully structured AI learning task, then pilot it with peers for real-time feedback.

The workshop is organized into two 2-hour sessions each followed by 1-hour practical activities. By day’s end, teachers will be equipped to lead meaningful AI explorations, foster critical thinking, and personalize learning for their students.

This workshop may be eligible toward Professional Development (PD) hours, depending on district and school policies. The six-hour structured format, including guided instruction and practical application, aligns with professional learning expectations outlined by the British Columbia Teachers' Federation and many local school districts. Participants can request a certificate of completion to submit to their school or district for PD recognition. Teachers are encouraged to confirm specific eligibility requirements with their administrator or local PD committee to ensure the hours can be applied toward their annual professional growth goals.
