Are your children spending too much time in front of a screen? Do you want to get them involved in something fun, practical, and educational?
The Faculty of Trades and Technology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is proud to present a unique experience for youth aged 10 to 14. We are launching the first Trades Summer Camp to introduce young people to four trades. The program will focus on introducing youth to the Automotive, Electrical, Plumbing, and Millwright/Industrial Mechanic programs. Students will be introduced to basic concepts, learn safe use of basic tools, and work on hands-on projects. The Trades Summer Camp will run on the week of June 30th (June 30th, July 2nd, July 3rd, and July 4th) on the KPU Tech campus in Cloverdale from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.
The projects chosen will focus on sustainability, indigenization, and the local environment. Our instructors will work with up to 16 students to ensure that they learn new skills and develop an understanding of the practical world around us.
Topics covered will include safety, measurements and trades mathematics, basic tool use, the internal combustion engine, introduction to the automobile, introduction to electricity and wiring, water pressure and flow dynamics, and problem-solving in complex mechanical systems.
This is a great opportunity for your child to be introduced to practical hands-on-skills!
