Your journey towards a career in product design here begins here!

Follow these easy steps to apply to the Product Design Program at KPU:

Step 1: Apply to KPU

All details on the KPU admissions process and entrance requirements can be found here: https://kpu.ca/admission. Apply to KPU online at: kpu.ca/apply

Step 2: Prepare Your Portfolio Package

Once you have completed your application, you will receive instructions on how to submit your portfolio through an online submission platform called Slideroom. This portfolio presents your potential to work in the field of product design.

To help you create the most effective portfolio possible, we offer workshops, feedback sessions and open houses. Click here for more information on dates to come.

For portfolio requirements and process, click here.

Step 3: Attend Interview

Eligible applicants who have met the application and documentation submission requirements will be contacted for a 45 minute, in-person interview. During this time, you will be asked about your goals and objectives in Product Design.

If you live outside of the Greater Vancouver Area, we can make alternative portfolio review arrangements on Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Step 4: You’ll be notified of our decision.

Within thee to four weeks of your interview, you will be able to view the results on your Online Self-Service checklist, regardless of your application status.

Only once all entrance requirements and documentation submissions have been completed, then your application status will be updated and you will be informed of your application decision by KPU Admissions. It is in your best interest to complete your application checklist as soon as possible or your seat may be offered to another student who has completed their checklist before you. Students who have graduated high school and have previous post-secondary education must submit their official post-secondary transcripts to Admissions before being considered for an offer.

Your application decision will be one of the following:

  • Offered admission to the Product Design program, or
  • Waitlisted for entry to the Product Design program, or
  • Not accepted into the Product Design program at this time. If you are not accepted into the Product Design program, you are encouraged to develop your knowledge, skills, and portfolio and begin reapplying as early as October 1, 2023, for the September 2024 intake

Step 5: Pay your deposit

If you are sent an offer to our program, reserve your seat by paying a deposit by the specified deadline.  Details will be provided in your offer package from the Admissions Office.

Step 6: Register for classes

Admitted students who have paid the confirmation deposit will receive registration instructions.

*Important Note* Laptop Program

The Product Design program is delivered in an e-mobile environment that uses laptop computers and specific software. Students are advised NOT to purchase a personal laptop computer until specifications and requirements have been provided to successful applicants.
