Student Applicants

Before you apply:

  1. Review the Melville Business Strategy Internship (MBSI) Student Program Requirements and FAQ.

  2. Attend at least one Internship Specific Résumé Writing webinar to get 5 bonus points!

  3. Please ensure you have an active and up-to-date LinkedIn profile and customized URL to get 1 bonus point!.

  4. Use the résumé rubric to self-assess. 

  5. Review and sign the Conflict-of-Interest (COI) Declaration.

  6. Submit your application along with the updated résumé, completed résumé rubric, and signed COI Declaration.

NOTE: While it’s encouraged to meet with a Student Success Coach before applying, if no appointments are available closer to the deadline, please submit your application before the deadline. A Student Success Coach will review your application and reach out if any updates are needed  to your résumé.

After you apply:

  1. Meet with a Student Success Coach for résumé review. Please note that final résumé rubric points are at the discretion of Student Success Coach.

  2. Attend a Internship Interview Preparation webinar.

NOTE: If you would like to submit an updated résumé before the internship deadline, please email studentcoach@kpu.ca. Do not resubmit your application. 

Deadline to submit applications are listed under Program Timelines. Internship cohorts start every mid-January, mid-May, and mid-September and students are asked to apply 4 months in advance of the next cohort start date.

NOTE: The work schedule is determined through a mutual agreement between the industry partner and the intern. Students are initially vetted with the expectation that they will work part-time. NOTE: Please find a copy of the COI Declaration here: https://www.kpu.ca/sites/default/files/Conflict%20of%20Interest%20%28COI%29%20Declaration.pdf. The signed COI Declaration will be valid only for the current MBSI cohort. For any future cohorts, a new COI Declaration will be required.
