The Exchange – a three day event celebrating emerging designers

(Metro Vancouver, BC) – The 2013 graduates of Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) Wilson School of Design are hosting a three day event called The Exchange at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC. Held from April 15-17, The Exchange celebrates the convergence, interaction, and dialogue between students and professionals engaged in design.

During this three day event, students from various disciplines, including graphic design, fashion design, interior design and foundations in design, will come together to showcase their work in The Exhibit, host a panel discussion on design at The Event, and stage a runway show of fashion collections at The Show.

This is the first time KPU’s emerging designers are showcasing their work together. The interaction and collaboration between students can be seen at the opening event, The Exhibit, on April 15, at the River Rock Casino in Richmond. This free student exhibit spans all three days. Come and see the work of graphic designers, interior designers, fashion designers, and much more.

The Exhibit: April 15, 5:00 pm-9:00 pm | April 16, 9:00 am-9:00 pm | April 17, 9:00 am-5:00 pm

On April 16, guest speakers Ryan Berlin, a leading economic, demographic, and market analyst with Urban Futures, Nora Young, host of CBC Radio’s Spark and author of Virtual Self, and Trevor Boddy, critic, designer, curator and historian of architecture and urbanism, will participate in a round table discussion about the future of design at The Event. Listen to these influential speakers as they examine the ever changing landscape of the design industry.

The Event: April 16, 7:30 pm | River Rock Show Theatre
Tickets: Student admission $10 | Regular admission $20

Capping off the three days is the highly anticipated annual fashion show, The Show, on April 17. See models strut down the runway at the River Rock Show Theatre, featuring the designs of graduating students from KPU’s fashion design and technology program.

"This year's show is going to be extra special,” said Evelyn May, coordinator, fashion design and technology program at KPU. “These students have worked especially hard to show their amazing talents and their collaborative focus. It's going to be a very exciting and inspiring show!"

The Show: April 17, 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm | River Rock Show Theatre
Tickets: Matinee $20 | Evening $40
